DIS Statement Regarding Recent Events in Paris, France.
DIS continues to monitor the ongoing situation following the recent events in Paris. We have an active Emergency Response Group and we continue to monitor this ongoing situation.
The last travel week of the semester ended on Sunday and classes resumed in Copenhagen for all students on Monday. We had optional study tours in Europe and all of the students are accounted for and back in Denmark. We have no more study tours traveling to any major European cities this semester.
As a current student, you are free to travel independently on days you do not have classes. We are not in a position to forbid you to travel, but we do continue to advise you to follow advisories from the U.S. State Department and the local governments of any travel destinations. Additionally, we ask you provide us with travel itineraries before departing on independent travel, by sending an email to studenttravel@dis.dk. If DIS is not provided with this information it is unlikely we can confirm your location.

According to the Copenhagen police and security services (PET) the threat against Denmark has not changed since the weekend. The Danish intelligence services are maintaining high vigilance and preparedness. The Copenhagen police and security services (PET) know about DIS and we are in contact with them on a regular basis. At the beginning of each semester, all current students are registered with the U.S. Embassy in Denmark. In security matters, DIS is guided by the police, the authorities in Copenhagen, and the intelligence services.
Current DIS students have access to DIS facilities around the clock, and you will be informed of all relevant information. You can call a 24-hour emergency number if it is needed. You also have access to our student affairs personnel and counseling staff if you would like to talk to someone. We have arranged extra support for those affected by the events in Paris.
Our semester continues as usual, and the last day of housing for all students is December 13, 2015.
Updates – November 14th, 2015
DIS is monitoring the situation in Paris. DIS has sent two emails informing students currently in Paris to follow instructions of police and security forces, and take caution. Students have also been asked to write DIS to indicate they are safe if they are in Paris on independent travels.
All students and tour leaders on the DIS Impressionism in Paris Optional Study Tour are home in Copenhagen, safe, and accounted for.
On the morning of Nov. 14, Paris is still on high alert. Paris airports are open, but with increased security. Students traveling from France should allow extra time for check-in. We advise students to stay with their travel itineraries.
