A Rich History in Study Abroad
Since 1959, DIS has been known as an innovative study abroad provider offering high-impact learning experiences for students. The DIS academic portfolio has its foundation in architecture and humanities, and over time has expanded to include disciplines such as business and economics, health sciences, neuroscience and psychology, sustainability and environmental sciences, and most recently computer science and engineering.
In 2016, we welcomed our first students to DIS Stockholm, where we share a sustainable and smart building with the Royal College of Music in the heart of the city.
History of the DIS Alumni Community
In the late 1990s, a DIS Alumni Association formed before it was common practice in study abroad. The Association was active for several years but was discontinued in the early 2000s to focus resources on building student enrollment. Throughout the last 20 years, alumni have continued to self-organize reunions, and it is not uncommon for our doorbell to ring on Vestergade to find an alum stopping by with their family to say “hej”!
We are excited to once again offer an official DIS Alumni Community aimed at strengthening connections between alumni, Scandinavia, and DIS through virtual and in-person events and networking and learning opportunities in Scandinavia and the U.S.
An independent, non-profit 501c3 organization, the DIS Alumni Community Foundation, was founded in 2021 to facilitate fundraising activities in support of current and future DIS students.
