The below information offers you additional details about what is included in the DIS Comprehensive Housing & Support Fees.

Housing Fee Inclusions

Given the various structures of DIS housing options, the Comprehensive Housing Fee covers different aspects of each housing type. Please see what is included in your fees below per housing option. Inclusions are also dependent on if you are a semester or summer student and differences are also noted below.

Included in the housing fee is the administration of housing and student affairs activities, which includes quality assurance of your living spaces, including screening of every Homestay and Rented Room as well as orientations for your hosts, personalized matching of students and hosts based on personal interests, likes, dislikes, dietary needs, etc. to create a successful match to the best of our ability, and housing advising for you as well as your hosts throughout the semester.

Folkehøjskole Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. Facilities Assistance of room and furnishings (however, cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option).
  • Dinners and breakfast every day with your hallmates in the dining hall, as well as lunch on the weekends. Lunch during the week is not provided, but you will have a shared kitchenette with equipment and room for you to store and cook your own food or pack a lunch
  • A food stipend to assist with food costs during 1 week of the semester
  • A transportation pass that covers the length of your daily commute from your home to DIS
  • Laundry facilities
  • Internet access
  • An administrator for assistance with practicalities and information
  • Administration, counseling, and 24-hour emergency support from the Housing & Student Affairs Team
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance
  • Pre-departure advising, Arrival Day group pick up from the airport (during scheduled hours), and an Arrival Workshop to ensure you are well prepared for living in Copenhagen

Homestay Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester / DIS Stockholm Semester

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen (however, cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option).
  • Most meals during scheduled class weeks, and you may need to cook some meals yourself
  • DIS Copenhagen: A transportation pass that covers the length of your daily commute from your home to DIS; DIS Stockholm: A transportation pass that covers all transportation across Stockholm
  • A Jump-Start event in your Homestay Network as well as a social budget for more events
  • Laundry facilities
  • Internet access
  • Recruitment of homestay hosts and personalized placement services
  • Administration, counseling and 24-hour emergency support from the DIS Housing & Student Affairs Team
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance
  • Pre-departure advising, Arrival Day pick up from the airport (during scheduled hours), and an Arrival Workshop to ensure you are well prepared for living in Copenhagen or Stockholm

Kollegium Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester and Summer Sessions

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. Facilities Assistance of room and furnishings (however, cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option).
  • A furnished kitchenette (with equipment, dishes, and utensils) individually or shared with your roommate or with your floor/building
  • A transportation pass that covers the length of your daily commute from your home to DIS
  • A food stipend to offset your food costs (please note the stipend is offered for semester students only, and the stipend is not intended to cover your food costs for the entire semester. Summer Housing Fees do not include a food stipend)
  • Laundry facilities
  • Internet access
  • A local Social and Residential Advisor (SRA) that lives on-site or nearby. Their role is to help you with the practicalities of life in Denmark, and to arrange a couple of social events for the DIS group at the Kollegium
  • A ‘Kollegium Connections Fund’ to encourage you to connect with your fellow Kollegium residents. This exciting opportunity gives you the chance to show leadership, have influence on the social atmosphere, and met other students (semester students only)
  • Administration, counseling and 24-hour emergency support from the DIS Housing & Student Affairs Team
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance
  • Pre-departure advising, Arrival Day group pick up from the airport (during scheduled hours), and an Arrival Workshop to ensure you are well prepared for living in Copenhagen

Living & Learning Communities Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester / DIS Stockholm Semester

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. Facilities Assistance of room and furnishings (however, cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option).
  • A furnished kitchenette (with equipment, dishes, and utensils) shared with your floor/building
  • DIS Copenhagen: A transportation pass that covers the length of your daily commute from your home to DIS if you are not in walking distance to DIS; DIS Stockholm: A transportation pass that covers all transportation across Stockholm
  • A food stipend to offset your food costs (the stipend is not intended to cover your food costs for the entire semester. Summer Housing Fees do not include a food stipend)
  • Laundry facilities
  • Internet access
  • A local Social and Residential Advisor (SRA) that lives on-site or nearby. Their role is to help you with the practicalities of life in Denmark, and to arrange a couple of social events for your community each semester
  • A LLC Coordinator that will structure your exploration of the LLC theme with weekly meetings. (You may still need to pay for some events such as transportation, food for communal cooking, etc.)
  • Administration, counseling and 24-hour emergency support from the DIS Housing & Student Affairs Team
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance
  • Pre-departure advising, Arrival Day group pick up from the airport (during scheduled hours), and an Arrival Workshop to ensure you are well prepared for living in Copenhagen or Stockholm

Studentboende Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester / DIS Stockholm Semester

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. Facilities Assistance of room and furnishings (however, cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option).
  • Fully equipped kitchen, shared with your floor/building
  • A transportation pass that covers all transportation across Stockholm
  • A food stipend to offset your food costs
  • Laundry facilities
  • Internet access
  • A local Social and Residential Advisor (SRA) that lives on-site or nearby. Their role is to help you with the practicalities of life in Sweden and to arrange a couple of social events for the DIS group at the Studentboende
  • A ‘Studentboende Connections Fund’ to encourage you to connect with your fellow residents. This exciting opportunity gives you the chance to show leadership, have influence on the social atmosphere, and meet other students
  • Administration, counseling and 24-hour emergency support from the DIS Housing & Student Affairs Team
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance

Rented Room Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester and Summer Sessions

  • Rental of a room located in an apartment owned by a Copenhagener, with access to a bathroom and fully equipped kitchen
  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. (Cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option.)
  • A transportation pass that covers the length of your daily commute from your home to DIS
  • A food stipend to offset your food costs (the stipend is not intended to cover your food costs for the entire semester. Summer Housing Fees do not include a food stipend)
  • Laundry facilities

  • Administration (including recruitment, placement, and quality insurance), counseling, and 24-hour emergency support from the DIS Housing & Student Affairs Team
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance

Residential Community Comprehensive Housing Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester and Summer Sessions / DIS Stockholm Semester

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. Facilities Assistance of room and furnishings (however, cleaning is not included for any DIS housing option).
  • A furnished kitchenette (with equipment, dishes, and utensils) shared with your roommate or your floor/building

Independent Housing (Self-arranged) Fee Inclusions

Housing Option Offered: DIS Copenhagen Semester and Summer Sessions / DIS Stockholm Semester

You may arrange your own housing for your semester or summer session for a reduced fee to cover support services listed below. DIS cannot assist with rent payments, deposits, furnishings, bedding, transportation or food costs, etc. If you have already signed up for DIS housing but wish to switch to Independent Housing, see Cancellations and Change Fees.
