When you arrive for your summer in Scandinavia, we believe it’s important for you to get an immediate feel for your new home and surroundings. From greeting you at the airport to orienting you to DIS, your new city, and the local culture, your first few days are built to make sure you are empowered to make the most of your time abroad.
Arrival Day
On the official start date of the program, DIS staff greet you at either Copenhagen Airport in Denmark or Stockholm Arlanda in Sweden, depending on where your first summer session is located. From the airport, you are transported to your housing, where you get settled and familiarize yourself with your new home.
If you arrive between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., you will be greeted by DIS staff and transported from the airport to your housing. If your flight arrives before 7:00 a.m., we recommend you wait at the airport until DIS staff are there to greet you in the arrival hall outside of baggage claim. If your flight arrives after 3:00 p.m., you will be responsible for your own transportation to your housing.
Your First Day at DIS
To help you make a smooth transition, DIS will facilitate orientation events to help you get acquainted with your new surroundings. Your first day of class begins the day after Arrival Day!
Arrival and Orientation for Mix and Match Students
If you are a Mix and Match Student (you are taking courses at both DIS Stockholm and DIS Copenhagen), your orientation program may vary each session. Regardless of location, the arrival and orientation events are mandatory and information about it will be communicated to you before you travel to your new DIS location.
