Comprehensive Housing and Support Fee Inclusions at DIS

The below information offers you additional details about what is included in the DIS Comprehensive Housing & Student Life Fees for semester students in both DIS Copenhagen and DIS Stockholm.

As part of the Comprehensive Housing Fee, the DIS Housing Team prioritizes quality living spaces, screening of Homestay Hosts, and personalized matching of students based on several factors including interests, likes/dislikes, dietary restrictions, allergies, etc.

DIS offers several housing types and there are slight differences in the inclusions of each. Please see what is included below.

Semester Housing Fee Inclusions

All DIS housing types include:

  • A furnished room with towels, blanket, pillow, and bed linen. Common areas will be cleaned throughout the semester, but you are responsible for cleaning your room
  • Private or shared bathroom facilities
  • Laundry facilities
  • Internet access
  • Maintenance service (if needed)
  • DIS Copenhagen: Transportation coverage that covers the commute between DIS and your housing, if you are not within walking distance to DIS; DIS Stockholm: A transportation pass that covers all transportation across Stockholm
  • Staff will greet you at Copenhagen Airport on the official start date of the program, and will facilitate transportation to your housing (during scheduled hours)
  • Support from the DIS Housing Team
  • Student Life Inclusions (see bottom of page)

Additional Homestay Inclusions

  • DIS Copenhagen: Three meals a day during scheduled class weeks, unless you go out to eat; DIS Stockholm: Breakfast and dinner during scheduled class weeks as well as a partial lunch stipend
  • A Jump-Start event in your Homestay Network as well as a social budget for more events

Additional Kollegium (DIS Copenhagen)/Studentboende (DIS Stockholm) Inclusions

  • A furnished kitchen/kitchenette (with equipment, dishes, and utensils) individually or shared with your roommate or with your floor/building
  • A partial food stipend to offset your food costs (this stipend is not intended to cover your food costs for the entire semester). See more information for Copenhagen here and Stockholm here
  • A Community Advisor that assists you in building healthy living communities and helps with the practicalities of life in Denmark and Sweden
  • Gatherings at the beginning of the semester, encouraging you to connect with fellow residents (and funds available for activities)

Additional Living & Learning Communities Inclusions

  • A furnished kitchen/kitchenette (with equipment, dishes, and utensils) individually or shared with your roommate or with your floor/building.
  • A partial food stipend to offset your food costs (this stipend is not intended to cover your food costs for the entire semester). See more information for Copenhagen here and Stockholm here
  • A Community Advisor that assists you in building healthy living communities and helps with the practicalities of life in Denmark and Sweden.
  • An LLC Coordinator that structures your exploration of the LLC theme through weekly events (you will pay a small fee for some events such as food for communal cooking, etc.).

Additional Residential Community Inclusions

  • A furnished kitchen/kitchenette (with equipment, dishes, and utensils) individually or shared with your roommate or with your floor/building
  • A partial food stipend to offset your food costs (this stipend is not intended to cover your food costs for the entire semester). See more information for Copenhagen here and Stockholm here
  • A Community Advisor that assists you in building healthy living communities (i.e. through sponsored communal dinners) and helps with the practicalities of life in Denmark and Sweden

Independent Housing (Self-arranged) Fee Inclusions

If you have opted out of DIS housing in accordance with the policy outlined here, you will pay a fee to cover the Student Life Inclusions listed below. DIS cannot assist with rent payments, deposits, furnishings, bedding, transportation, food costs, etc. Additionally, you will not receive support or transportation on Arrival Day, access to a housing group in the DIS Navigate App, or access to housing activities.

Student Life Inclusions

You will find many support resources available to you at DIS both before you depart and once you arrive!

In general, your support fee includes:

  • Pre-departure orientation and advising
  • On-site support: Care Team, Student Hub, Academic Support, and IT support services
  • DIS Arrival Workshop
  • Comprehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance
  • Advising and assistance pertaining to your Legal Residence Process needed to come abroad with DIS
  • 24-hour emergency support
