The title of Alexander Hviid’s article in Politica translates to ‘The Arctic Window – a Glimpse into Greenlandic Foreign Policy.’ The article looks at the divergent understanding of Greenland’s freedom of action when it comes to its foreign policy. There is a fundamental legal ambiguity that made it to the Act of Greenland Self-Government and it is still present today. This affects the dynamics of the Danish-Greenlandic relations and becomes more and more problematic as the geopolitical competition increases, and the Danish Realm must handle increasing numbers of international actors in the Arctic.
Alexander Hviid is a cherished full-time DIS faculty member teaching the courses Arctic Geopolitics, Humanitarian Law and Armed Conflict, and Cyberwarfare.
Congratulations on the publication, Alexander!
