DIS Faculty Thyge C. Bro and co-author Nanna Westergaard-Nielsen release their book “Makedonien – Europas første stormagt” (Macedonia – The First Great Power of Europe).

DIS DIS Copenhagen Semester

DIS faculty member Thyge C. Bro and co-author Nanna Westergaard-Nielsen recently released their book Makedonien – Europas første stormagt (Macedonia – The First Great Power of Europe). The book takes readers to Macedonia during the time of Philip II and Alexander the Great. It shows how Macedonia was a place of cultural and political importance in the 4th century BC, and highlights how Hellenism influenced European development and identity.

Thyge and Nanna held a release event at DIS where they presented the book and spoke about their reasons to write about Macedonia. A reception followed their presentation and participants had the opportunity to purchase the book.

Thyge has a Mag. Art degree in Classical Archaeology from the University of Copenhagen. He has been working at DIS since 2006 and is currently teaching the Ancient Art and Archaeology semester course.
