DIS faculty member Thyge C. Bro and co-author Nanna Westergaard-Nielsen recently released their book Makedonien – Europas første stormagt (Macedonia – The First Great Power of Europe). The book takes readers to Macedonia during the time of Philip II and Alexander the Great. It shows how Macedonia was a place of cultural and political importance in the 4th century BC, and highlights how Hellenism influenced European development and identity.
Thyge and Nanna held a release event at DIS where they presented the book and spoke about their reasons to write about Macedonia. A reception followed their presentation and participants had the opportunity to purchase the book.
Thyge has a Mag. Art degree in Classical Archaeology from the University of Copenhagen. He has been working at DIS since 2006 and is currently teaching the Ancient Art and Archaeology semester course.Back to all news
