Semester highlights from our Student Photographers
Every semester, our Student Photographers capture moments of the study abroad journey.
From exploring their home bases in Stockholm and Copenhagen to documenting their travels on Study Tour, their media provide a glimpse into what life looks like for a DIS student.
We’ve curated our favorite photos from the spring 2025 semester. View them below and read our Student Photographers’ reflections on what it was like to document their time abroad.

Sunny (she/her, University of Michigan)
DIS Copenhagen
Core Course: Sustainable Food: Production and Consumption
“My favorite photos from the semester were those capturing everyday life, but from a more intentional lens. Framing, culling, and editing pictures of my own life – really spending hours looking through what I have lived through in Copenhagen – adds a lot more time and meaning to these moments.”

Anna (she/her, Princeton University)
DIS Stockholm
Core Course: Machine Learning
“I love capturing memories I make with my friends. Whether it be traveling to different countries, visiting museums, or just sharing a meal, these moments together are most meaningful to me. Over time, my photos tell the story of my time abroad, highlighting what matters most — who I spent it with.”

Dionne (she/her, Bates College)
DIS Copenhagen
Core Course: Child Development and Education in Scandinavia
‘”Coming into my student photographer role, I hadn’t done street photography, specifically that of people in years. It was amazing to get more comfortable with capturing my friends, classmates, and strangers around Denmark and beyond. It allowed me to be more observant of my surroundings, specifically when taking candids of people just being people, which 100% deepened my understanding of the culture.”

Angelina (she/her, University of Georgia)
DIS Stockholm
Core Course: Neuroscience of Emotion
“Being able to capture activities with my classmates was probably my favorite types of pictures to take. Especially during the Study Tours. With my Neuroscience of Emotion class, at the end of each day we would all sit down and look through the photos together. It was such a fun way to remember little moments of our adventures and I think it really brought us all closer. It made me so happy to know that I could make a positive impact on my fellow students’ experience.”

Zoe Max (she/her, Furman University)
DIS Stockholm
Core Course: Positive Psychology
“This semester, my camera became a way to connect, with people, places, and myself. Every photo helped me feel more present, grounded in the beauty of daily life. It always brought me back to the reason I wanted to study abroad: to slow down, to notice more, and to hold onto the little things. It wasn’t just about capturing memories or documenting the DIS experience – it was about honoring the quiet moments that made Stockholm feel like home.”
