Application process

Fill out the form
The application process varies by university, but everyone begins here by filling out the form.

Talk to your school
Your study abroad office and academic advisor can give you the information you need about your school’s application process, deadlines, transferring credits, tuition, and scholarships. DIS collaborates with over 200 partner institutions across North America so that the process is simple.

DIS will be in touch
We will reach out to you about the next steps, which varies based on your home institution. Once the application is submitted, you will receive an admission decision within two to three weeks.

Application deadlines

Be sure to meet with your university’s study abroad office as deadlines and processes might vary by institution.

We encourage you to apply as early as you can, as DIS often reaches capacity before published deadlines.

  • October 15: Spring semester
  • March 15: Summer Sessions
  • April 1: Fall semester and full-year

Eligibility requirements

To be a successful applicant, you must have an academically compelling reason why DIS is a good fit for you, the self-reliance and maturity necessary to obtain the benefits and embrace the challenges of studying abroad, and a genuine interest in cultural engagement.

  • Must have completed two semesters by time of participation
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing at a four-year college or university in the United States or Canada
