About this course
Contemporary culture reflects a fascination with the concept of evil. This course examines the philosophical question of evil through the lens of film, literature, and modern culture. Is evil a response to the absence of God and a fundamental nihilistic attitude towards life in general or is it rather an unfortunate means to an end, often motivated by some higher political purpose? These questions among others are addressed through an analysis of the representations of evil in contemporary culture.
