About this course
This immersive course explores how scientific perspectives have inspired historical and contemporary artistic practices and how art can help us understand and connect with nature.
Through excursions and individual and collaborative art projects using sustainable materials, we experiment with creative practices that connect artistic expression, ecological awareness, and hands-on engagement with the natural world. By studying historical art practices, from the framing of nature in historic landscape painting to groundbreaking Earth Art and contemporary collaborations between artists and scientists today, we develop an understanding of how evolving ideas about nature have shaped science and art over time.
