A firsthand look at student experiences
Each semester we assemble a new group of Student Bloggers to showcase their study abroad adventures in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
These students, representing a range of universities and academic interests, bring you along as they document life in Scandinavia. Through blogs, lists, and photo essays, they capture it all—from everyday scenes to Study Tour highlights—offering an up-close view of their journey from start to finish.

We hosted DIScovery Night last week, a semester tradition that opens students’ minds to the possibility of returning to Scandinavia after graduation!
DIS students explored a wide range of post-graduate opportunities in Sweden. Through conversations with DIS staff, alumni, and university representatives, they learned about everything from work sponsorships and university programs to au pair positions and more.

Earlier this fall semester, Emerson (@pittglobalexp) wrote honestly about their experience with homesickness.
Being far from home was a new challenge, but Emerson found ways to cope and thrive. One strategy? Leaning into nostalgia — finding reminders of home while abroad. And in Sweden, what better way than visiting the filming location of Young Royals (a favorite TV show from their teenage years), just an hour outside Stockholm? 👑

Housing matching at DIS is an intentional process — one designed to place each student in a living environment that truly fits their needs. 🏡
Listen to Adiam, Community Advisor at DIS Stockholm, share how our team places students in housing sites and matches them with roommates or Homestay hosts. It’s the first step in building the community you’ll experience once you arrive.
Current and former DIS students — tell us your housing memories in the comments! 🌟

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a DIS Stockholm student looks like? 📆
For Asea (@pomonaidpo), a typical weekday means class and studying at the DIS building, volleyball with the Stockholm Students’ Sports Club, commuting home, dinner with flatmates in her housing site’s shared kitchen, and some solo bass guitar practice to end the evening.

Scandinavian fall is coming to a close, and we’re not quite ready to say goodbye 🍁🍂
Our students experienced a wonderful autumn in Stockholm — from seeing the Northern Lights and exploring the archipelago to outdoor Field Studies and restful nights in (höstmys, Swedish for ‘autumn cozy’).
Captured by our Student Media Team: Bertha (@vassarcollege), Rayna (@northwesternabroad), Joseph (@pomonaidpo), and Melia (@smith_college_ois).
