Scandinavian furniture has a deep history of considering people, culture, materiality, and society in the design process.

Explore these relationships and develop your individual design capabilities through studio assignments, lectures, Field Studies to local studios, and Study Tour visits to explore other Nordic approaches.

Incorporate your understanding of the Scandinavian design ethos with your personal influences as you create your own prototype in the woodshop.

Furniture Design Studio

Scandinavian furniture design has a deep history of considering people, culture, material, and society in design development. The course gives you the opportunity to explore this particular relationship and to grow your individual design capabilities through studio assignments, lectures, Field Studies, and workshop activity producing your own furniture prototype. This course is taught vertically, and expectations relate to you as an individual student.

Study Tours: Finland and/or Sweden, Denmark
