With your Commuter Card, you will have access to unlimited, 24/7 travel within the given zones between your housing and DIS across all public transportation companies in the Greater Copenhagen area, including the metro, S-tog, regional trains, buses, and harbor buses. This means that if you need to take multiple forms of transport between your housing and DIS (i.e. a bus and then a train), you can transfer while using the same Commuter Card on the app.

How to get your commuter card
Step 1: Open the App Store or Google Play
Step 2: Search ‘DSB’ and choose the DSB app (the logo has a red background)
Step 3: Install the app
Step 4: In the DSB app, select ‘Profile’ and ‘Create DSB Plus Profile’
Step 5: Start by filling out your email address. It is very important to use the same email address you use for DIS Online Registration as it will be what identifies you to DSB as a DIS student, allowing you to invoice us for your DIS travels once your semester has started
Step 6: DSB will send you a verification code, which you need to make an account. Once you have received the verification code, type it in and fill out the remaining information. If you do not receive a verification code promptly, check your junk and filtered mail first. If you still do not received your verification code, report the issue to the Student Hub.
Step 7: To purchase your Commuter Card (known as ‘pendlerkort‘ in Danish), open the DSB app. Select ‘Commuter Card & Commute20’ from the home page
Step 8: The app will ask you to enter a starting and ending location. Enter either your housing address or nearest station in Location 1. For Location 2, enter the station nearest to DIS: Rådhuspladsen St. (Metro). Then select ‘Go to choose product’
Important note: The same street names exist in many cities throughout Denmark, so you should always double-check that the postal codes are correct
Step 9: Select the option for ‘Commuter card’ (do not choose ‘Commuter20’).
Step 10: On the next screen, you will be prompted to choose the number of days and the starting date upon which your Commuter Card will be valid.
Fall/spring semester students: select 60 days starting from your Arrival Day.
- NOTE: This will only cover half of the semester so you need to remember to renew your Commuter Card in mid-October (for fall semester students) or mid-March (for spring semester students). You are responsible for renewing your card before it expires.
Summer session students: select a period corresponding to how long you will be studying in Copenhagen. If you are also going to Stockholm, they have a different system and this card cannot be used there.
Step 11: The app will now calculate the number of zones you will need to travel through between the locations. Select one of the revealed zone options by clicking on the map. You may be presented with a variety of zone options. In this case, refer to your housing assignment page on Online Registration for an overview of recommended zones you should purchase.
If you live in the following housing sites, you will need to purchase zones 1 and 2 (two zones):
- Langebro
- Nimbus
- Mønten
- Holmbladsgade
- Amagerbrogade
- Peder Skrams Gade
- Sankt Annæ Gade
- Store Kongensgade
Click the button at the bottom to proceed to the next step.
Step 12: If given the option for add-ons, make sure you select ‘Without add-ons’. It is important that you do NOT select either of the DSB’1 options; DSB’1 this means First Class, and is not covered by DIS.
Step 13: Select the option ‘With Metro’, so you can utilize all forms of public transportation.
Step 14: Accept terms and conditions and click ‘Go to payment’
Step 15: Once you proceed to the payment, you can send the bill directly to DIS by choosing ‘Invoice’. Invoice should be automatically selected, but if it is not, you can select this option under ‘Means of payment.’
Under the ‘Comment’ field, you must enter text to indicate the category
Note: If there is no invoice option then something has gone wrong in your setup process. Make sure you are logged in to your DSB account, otherwise reach out immediately to Student Hub
