About this course
The Danish Language & Culture course at DIS is your ideal entry point for living and studying abroad in Denmark. This focused section offers an integrated approach to Danish language and culture grounded in embodied and mindful learning methods.
Through movement, play, conversation, and reflection, we will explore what it means to live and study in Denmark, and how culture and language affect us on multiple levels. We will experience Danish culture through city walks, class discussions, interactive language practice, and conversations with locals. Shared meals, games, and physical activities will help us engage both body and mind. Often outdoors, these activities will make use of Copenhagen’s varied urban landscape, but all practices will be accessible to everybody, and every body.
Language learning focuses on spoken, everyday Danish, reading and listening comprehension as well as basic grammar, allowing you to interact in simple and practical ways in your local surroundings. This functional approach is reflected in classroom interactions, hands-on exercises, and experiential learning through field studies in Copenhagen and surrounding areas.
