Karolinska Institutet Fellowship
Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stockholm and DIS co-fund an annual fellowship for DIS alumni to pursue graduate studies at KI. This fellowship covers the tuition of one of KI’s distinguished Global Master’s Programs in health and life sciences.

Fellowship for DIS alumni at Karolinska Institutet
DIS alumni can apply for an annual fellowship to pursue a Global Master’s Program at Karolinska Institutet (KI), one of the world’s top medical universities. This fellowship provides up to $20,000 per year towards tuition for any of KI’s two-year programs in health and life sciences, with courses taught in English.

KI is one of the world’s top medical universities and Sweden’s largest center for medical research. KI consistently ranks among the top 50 global universities and in the top 10 for medical studies in Europe. KI awards the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine every year, which provides them with an invaluable network and unique survey of medical research results worldwide.
DIS-KI collaboration
Since 2015, DIS has partnered with KI to offer rigorous undergraduate education opportunities within DIS academic programs, such as Biomedicine, Medical Practice & Policy, Neuroscience, and Public Health. Through our collaboration, we recruit faculty, provide clinical skills training, and mentor Research Assistantships. KI/DIS faculty work at the forefront of health and life sciences research to bring theory to life for students, sharing real-world expertise and access to their networks.
Global Master’s programs
KI offers the following Global Master’s programs in health and life sciences, taught in English, with an international focus. The programs have a duration of two years.
- Bioentrepreneurship

- Health Economics, Policy, and Management

- Nutrition Science
- Public Health Sciences including an Epidemiology Track and a Health Promotion and Prevention Track

Fellowship and tuition fees
The KI-DIS Fellowship is a co-funded, merit-based fellowship covering up to $20,000 per year in tuition fees for any of KI’s Global Master’s programs. This applies to both years of a two-year master’s program. The fellowship is available annually to DIS alumni who studied in either Stockholm or Copenhagen.
The tuition fees for the Global Master’s programs are listed in Swedish Kronor (SEK), and they range from 165,000-200,000 SEK per year (approximately $17,000-$20,000 based on the current exchange rate). EU citizens are exempt from tuition fees.

Global master’s application and KI-DIS Fellowship Application
The online application for Global Master’s Programs open from October 16, 2024 to January 15, 2025. The application fee is 900 SEK (approximately $90 based on the current exchange rate). Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and meet each program’s specific entry requirements.
