Complete Your Online Pre-Departure Course

Before your term begins, you will receive an invitation to Compass, your DIS online pre-departure course. This course will benefit you greatly; it was designed by alumni and DIS staff to answer frequently asked questions and serve as a resource for you before and during your time abroad. It is mandatory to complete before arrival at DIS.

Stay Updated With Communication from DIS

Check your email regularly! You are responsible for staying up-to-date on pre-departure communication from DIS. Set up your email account to accept emails from ‘@dis.dk’, and look for the following:

  • From registration to arrival: You will complete the Compass Course; meanwhile DIS will send newsletters of important arrival and registration information as well as helpful pre-departure advice
  • Six to eight weeks before arrival: DIS will issue invoices either to you directly or to your home university
Learn more on the Tuition and Fees pages
  • Ten days before arrival: DIS will email your DIS arranged housing placement

Reflect Before You Arrive

Your summer abroad may be the first time you have ever left your home country. Allow yourself some time to reflect on some uncertainties you may have. What will challenge you when living in a new culture with different societal norms than those you are used to? How will you meet locals while studying at DIS?

Equip yourself with knowledge of the cultures and customs, share nervous emotions with friends, family, and your study abroad advisor, and fuel yourself with ideas from past students. When you finally arrive, you will be so glad you did your research, as you will be ready to make the most of your summer abroad!
