Music Exploration Living & Learning Community

This Living & Learning Community is a housing opportunity in which you take an active role in engaging yourself in Stockholm through music and its connection to Swedish Culture.

ABBA, Avicii, Icona Pop, Rebecca&Fiona, Robyn, Tallest Man on Earth, and Tove Lo are just a few of Sweden’s impressive artists and global music exports. Katy Perry, Madonna, Taylor Swift, and Usher have also all worked with Swedish music producers. How can such a small nation be the world’s third largest music exporter?

In the Music Living & Learning Community (LLC), we look behind the scenes of how Sweden rocks the world of music and experience how music is an integral part of many locals’ life in Stockholm. This is your ideal LLC if you are interested in exploring Sweden’s broad range of offerings when it comes to music, from classic choir, tour music production, and DJ-ing.

You do not need to have previous experience engaging with music to be considered for this housing option. All you need is a curiosity and passion for reflecting on the study abroad experiencing through a musical lens and exploring the intersection of commercial music and cultural traditions.

Commitment and Community

Being in the Music LLC means committing yourself to weekly meetings, planning and attending theme-related events throughout the semester, and actively engaging with the broader creative communities around Stockholm.

You will be challenged to build a community that creates a shared identity and values within a study abroad context, one that challenges the way you see your own identity.

Max Keller

Max is a music enthusiast and always eager to find hidden gems in all music genres. It all began with playing drums when he was little, and soon after, he visited his first festival, a heavy metal festival. After this, many more music festivals were to be discovered and many more music genres to enjoy. In Stockholm, Max has found great locations with different types of (Swedish) music for you to experience. And, every now and then, he hears about an underground event that is in need of an audience. Currently, Max runs the online music magazine minutenmusik.de, goes to concerts, and DJs deep house and techno music. Additionally, he’s getting into music production and wants to remember the names of the guitar chords he knows to play.
