Why study abroad in Copenhagen?

Make Copenhagen your home this fall while you pursue your academic and personal goals abroad. At DIS, you can study in English and earn credits towards your degree. Choose from a range of courses and electives to enhance your major or explore a new interest.

We offer a unique and innovative approach to study abroad – where learning is not just in the classroom.  You will gain real-life, hands-on experience in labs, institutes and professional contexts. Your teachers will be experts in the field, not just academically but professionally, giving you a unique and contemporary look at your industry.

Get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in the Scandinavian way of life and culture. Find out what it means to live sustainably in a progressive city. Along the way, you’ll develop new skills, broaden your perspective and grow in unexpected ways.

“One of my favorite things about classes at DIS is that often, the class doesn’t even take place in the classroom.”

About DIS

DIS is a non-profit study abroad foundation established in Denmark in 1959. We have over 60 years experience with students from North American colleges and universities, studying abroad in Scandinavia.

So when you study abroad in Copenhagen or Stockholm, you are not alone. You are walking in the footsteps of students who have come before, seeking to gain a deeper appreciation for a different culture and grow professionally and personally with the support of DIS.

We know that study abroad is transformative, but not always easy. So we provide support with everything from the application process, to housing, orientation, social activities, cultural immersion and ongoing academic and personal help.

What’s the application process and deadline?
The application process depends on your university, and in some cases, the program and term to which you are applying. Once you submit your information, we will email you regarding how to proceed and help you with any questions along the way.

Many courses fill up before the deadline, so to ensure you get a spot in your top choices, apply as soon as possible.

The deadline to apply for the Spring ’24 semester is October 15th.

Are there scholarships available?
Yes! DIS offers need and merit-based awards and is committed to supporting students with limited financial resources, from diverse backgrounds, and/or underrepresented populations in study abroad. On average, over 50% of all students receive financial support from DIS.

The application for scholarships is separate from your enrollment application, so don’t delay in starting your application.
