March 2, Archived Alert Related to COVID-19

March 2, 2020

Dear Students,

We would like to provide an update related to the COVID-19 (coronavirus). Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a statement suggesting that U.S. institutions of higher education consider postponing or canceling programs abroad. There are no current CDC watch levels for Denmark and Sweden.

We want you to know that the safety and wellbeing of our students is our main priority. DIS is following the situation closely and is committed to running our programs including future Study Tours. We will also continue to assess this situation in dialogue with our various partners in order to find necessary solutions, with the goal of mitigating potential impacts on your academic progress.

You will likely hear from your home university in the coming days with their advice and recommendations. Please contact emergencyresponse@dis.dk to share what you hear from your universities or with any questions.

DIS reminds you of the information provided in previous communication where we provided guidance from the CDC, WHO, the U.S. State Department, and other authorities related to your safety in Denmark, Sweden, and for your travel.

Please be assured that though the risk of COVID-19 in Denmark and Sweden remains low, DIS takes the situation seriously. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation in close collaboration with local authorities and public health officials and adapt quickly if the facts compel us to do so.

Regards,
Malene Torp
Executive Director
