This upcoming spring, recipient of the Anders Uhrskov Scholarship, Abby Radnitzer of Denison University will be studying at DIS Copenhagen in the Global Economics Program.
The Anders Uhrskov Leadership Scholarship is awarded to one student each semester who possesses exceptional leadership skills and demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm for their academics. Abby has clearly exemplified these qualities in her academic and extracurricular life. She not only participates in, but also serves as, an officer in the Women’s Ice Hockey and Women’s Rugby clubs at Denison; tutors her peers in economics and statistics; and led a pre-orientation trip for first-year students that revolved around the theme of sustainable food. Additionally, Abby is a part of a small group of students that have chosen to live “off the grid” in a community focused on sustainability and communal living.
Abby shared her enthusiasm for choosing the Globalization and European Economies core course, saying,
“I’m excited to learn about the intricacies, successes, and setbacks that an interconnected economic system like the Eurozone experiences in more of a hands-on capacity. I’m also really interested in learning about international trade and finance on a general scale because I don’t have a lot of familiarity with those topics.”
When it comes to her elective courses, she is most excited about taking Business Strategies in the Transition Toward a Sustainable Economy, which Abby says “blends [her passion] for business and sustainability.” She is also enrolled in Danish Language and Culture, which she believes will be “useful in helping [her] communicate better with the locals and understand their customs.”
When asked how she will get involved in the community while abroad, Abby shared her plan to stay active by either joining a soccer or rugby club in Greater Copenhagen.
Congratulations to Abby! We look forward to welcoming her in January.Back to all news
