DIS Copenhagen Fall 2016 Semester in Session

DIS DIS Copenhagen Semester

DIS Copenhagen welcomed Fall 2016 Semester students on Saturday, August 20, and Arrival Week commenced the semester with workshops that oriented students to their new surroundings.

Highlights of the week included the DIScover Copenhagen activity to explore the city; Culture Talks to discuss topics such as fashion in Copenhagen, managing finances abroad, and diversity in Denmark; and tutorial sessions that acquainted students with the transportation system.

The Opening Ceremony, held at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, was an exciting introduction to Denmark and DIS; opera singer Nina Sveistrup Clausenand and pianist Janus Araghipour performed pieces throughout the Ceremony. Speakers included DIS Executive Director, Malene Torp, and DIS faculty member Salman Ahmad, who urged students to make the most of their semesters abroad, both academically and culturally.

The week concluded with academic orientations and the start of classes. Students will participate in 19 academic programs this semester, and will soon be off for Core Course Week in just a few weeks’ time!
