Lisbeth Borbye earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Copenhagen University and spent 22 years in the U.S. She held numerous positions at North Carolina State University — as Assistant Dean, Associate Professor, and the Director of Microbial Biotechnology. Lisbeth was also responsible for forging relations between STEM students across 16 campuses and relevant businesses, companies, and NGOs in North Carolina.
Iben de Neergaard earned a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a degree from the Danish School of Media and Journalism. For years, she was the Communication Team Coordinator at the Danish Refugee Council, and most recently was Head of Communication at Cevea, an independent think tank in Denmark. She also has communication experience from her work at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Danish television station TV2, and CNN in New York.
Academic Director Helle Rytkønen shared her confidence in Iben and Lisbeth: “I am very excited about the hires of Iben and Lisbeth, who both bring new skill sets and experiences to DIS. Iben has extensive knowledge of all aspects of communication from the field and from her time at Columbia and CNN. Lisbeth has a solid background in administration, research, and education, and a very impressive track record of engaging organizations and businesses in education. I also find it reassuring that both of them returned excited and energized after attending field studies with our current students and faculty!”
Lisbeth and Iben look forward to collaborating with U.S. partners and colleagues during this spring’s upcoming curriculum build for DIS.Back to all news
