Child Development and Diversity Visit Local Shelter

Child Development & Diversity Students Visit Local Youth Shelter

To contribute to their understanding of youth in Northern Europe, students in the Adolescence in Northern Europe core course visited one of Copenhagen’s shelters for homeless youth, Kofoed’s Kælder.

With the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of issues surrounding marginalized youth in Denmark, the group met with the administrative staff as well with several of the young people who use the space. Students discussed Kofoeds Kælder’s initiative to provide for this population – as they have an additional ten apartments in Copenhagen where homeless youth can stay for up to two years while getting back on track. To round off the visit, students had the chance to tour one of the apartments!
