Guest Lecture: Josh Owen on His Work in Industrial Design
DIS will be hosting a lecture by Josh Owen, professor and chair of the Industrial Design Department at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). RIT is a DIS partner institution. Josh is here critiquing final student projects this week at DIS.

About Josh Owen:
Josh has a B.A. from Cornell and a M.A. from Rhode Island School of Design. He joined RIT in 2010 after teaching at Philadelphia University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. Serving as president of Josh Owen LLC, Josh’s work belongs to permanent design collections around the world, including the Centre Georges Pompidou (FR), the Corning Museum of Glass (USA), the Philadelphia Museum of Art (USA), the Musee des beaux-arts de Montreal (CA), and the Taiwan Design Museum (TP). Josh’s students’ work has also gained international attention through prestigious awards, publications, and exhibitions in critical venues, and mass production prior to graduation. Most recently Josh’s students collaborated with Herman Miller for a project for the ICFF in New York. Additionally, he plays an active role in supporting the mission of the Vignelli Center for Design Studies, located at RIT.

Summer students will be featuring their final work in furniture design, architecture, interior architecture, graphic design, and urban design.
