DIS Academic Programs Present Interdisciplinary Evening Panel

Recently, a panel debate held at DIS, ‘Health Care Innovation and Business Seminar,’ discussed the role of innovation in the Danish health care system.

The Science and Health programs collaborated with the International Business program, to present this interdisciplinary event.

On the panel, were Jakob Hansen, DIS faculty member and Patient Engagement Manager at LEO Pharma; Heidi Smollerup Rasmussen, Chief Consultant of Danish Cancer Society; Andreas Daugaard Jørgensen, Health Economist and Market Access Manager at MSD, Merck & Co.; and Mark Draper Director of Global Public Affairs at Coloplast.

The panelists gave students insight into the health care sector from their angle of expertise. Jakob discussed health care beyond the product, and developing complete care solution for patients. Andreas introduced the topic of clinical research in Denmark, as well as creating new treatment options. Heidi spoke about innovation in patient processes, and how patients are involved in developing the health care sector. Lastly, Mark Draper presented creating value in the health care sector in cooperation with stakeholders.

Students enjoyed the dynamism of the panelists’ backgrounds, as their topics interconnected and complemented one another, making for a great discussion. Students asked questions following each presentation, and the conclusion of the debate included light snacks and refreshments.
