Malene Torp, the DIS Executive Director, along with Henning Thomsen, Program Director for the architecture and design programs at DIS, welcomed our new students to Copenhagen on a chilly Monday morning.
The DIS Strings Orchestra provided the soundtrack to proceedings, which were hosted by staff and faculty member Anders Larsen. During the ceremony, Malene spoke about her own time studying abroad at NYU, and what the new students could expect from academics at DIS and from the study abroad semester. She also urged students to think critically about how to spend their time while at DIS, both culturally and academically.
At the end of proceedings, she asked the students to take a ‘selfie’ photograph (referencing the one Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Barack Obama took in December) and upload it to Instagram. Some of the results are on the DIS profile page, but to check out the stream of photos uploaded by DIS students, search #DISabroad on Instagram.
And to all the new arrivals at DIS – A very big welcome to you all!Back to all news
